East West University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited on October 8, 2026, at the EWU campus, bringing the university into Huawei’s global ICT Academy program.
Under the agreement, EWU students will be able to take industry-focused training in artificial intelligence and ICT skills, use modern technology resources, and sit for professional certifications. The aim is to prepare students for careers in the global information and communication technology sector.
EWU was represented at the signing by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, along with other university leaders. Huawei was represented by Mr. Ma Ben, Managing Director of Public Affairs for Huawei South Asia, and delegates from its Brand and Communications department.
University leaders described the partnership as part of EWU’s push to give students career-ready skills and exposure to emerging technology. Huawei’s representatives said they want to support youth development and grow ICT talent in Bangladesh through training and certification.
About 100 students and faculty members attended to learn about the initiatives planned under the partnership, including AI training programs, ICT Academy courses, and certification opportunities.
The signing follows earlier contact between the two sides. An EWU delegation visited Huawei Bangladesh on May 21, 2026, and Mr. Ma Ben was guest of honor at the launch of EWU’s AI training program for faculty on June 11.
